So, I was going through an old photo album this morning and came across this very, very old, kodak photo.


* Yes, that's me up there (the blog author. ) Not entirely proud of all this. But, it did make my kids laugh.


The photo, BTW is from a dress rehearsal of a High School production of The Man Who Came To Dinner. (Starring, yes, me and Eric Schaeffer as well as some other gawky, yet surprisingly ambitious kids that year.)

*Note this play photo is circa 1978. I was given that red satin number by a girl from boarding school the previous year. She said me wore it to Studio 54, but I don't believe her. I think it was her mothers. It was very disco-glam and well-made. Sadly, I think this was the only time I ever wore the outfit. However, now, I wish I'd kept both it and those silver shoes. The dress I wore in the other photo was my mother's from being some queen at Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Mithras? 1959? It was heavily studded with rhinestones and felt very Queen of the North (Narnia) to wear.

I love it. My mom still has it, I think.

Mental note: Find and save for daughters.

I tried to flush Schaeffer's sweater down the toilet.

Especially when those paths go back even farther than high school.  I think he and I were butting heads as far back as elementary school! If my memory serves me right, Schaeffer and I ended up, briefly, in the Guilford Central School together.  Fall 1968.  Yep. I was a newly transplated girl from New Orleans dropped unceremoniously into a tiny, extremely humble elementary school out in the boondocks of southern Vermont.  I had NO idea what the hell I was doing there and was suffering my own case of "Other-itis."   I In my case, as an only child of often charming, but highly eccentric parents, my wild ride hit some very bumpy patches, More on that later. Back to Eric:  See as a newcomer that year to Vermont from New Orleans I had an accent.  I wore dresses and probably continuing too make my parents happy by literally curtseying to the adults they trotted me out to meet.
