While we're all still reeling from our colossal loss, here's Bowie having a laugh at Gervais's expense (Extras).  But, wait! There's more... Gervais interviewed about the night he met David Bowie along with Salman Rushdie, etc.

Okay, I'm not proud of this fact, but I love my television shows. And, I can't believe I haven't blogged this before, but I wanted to share what my particular favorite shows are, in case anyone else shares the same addictions and wants to chat about how wonderfully awful they are. First of all there's the reality TV: Celebrity Apprentice, Wife Swap, Trading Spouses, plain old Apprentice, Survivor, Top Chef, Project Runway, I Can't Believe I'm Still Single (Yes, that really is what it's called.) America's Next Top Model, My Life On The D-List, and, as always, for my Friday night date with Pete, we have to watch Bill Maher. As for non -reality TV I adore, love and can't enough of Breaking Bad , Mad Men , Californication, Sex and The City, Extras (love Ricky Gervais) and...gosh, there has to more than that, isn't there? There used to be on HBO, but those dang series shows keep running out of episodes. I'm still really upset about Six Feet U

I'm sorry, but nothing EVER makes me laugh harder than watching re-runs of Extras... Here's Kate Winslet, talking about her husband 's Oscar.... And, this one, well, just makes me howl.

Here's the deal: When you marry a journalist, you may not get to drive a fancy car, but if you're lucky you may occasionally get tickets to fun things. This has been a good year for this. For instance, this weekend we both got to see Ricky Gervais in his Out Of England Tour . Better yet, it was at the Kodak theater , so I got to experience not just one hilarious show, but also see it at the famous Kodak Theatre where they also have the Oscars! Very exciting stuff, for me. For the record it was a terrific show. Ricky Gervais did not disappoint. He was engaging and funny throughout the show. The time just flew by and we both loved every minute. I was especially impressed how so often he remained the "straight man" (and I don't mean "not gay") during what was essentially one long monologue. That's not easy. But, he pulled it off with ease. How did a whole year just slip by? It's official: I'm now pushing "50" with very short stick . (Well, only 3 years long.) But, somehow even that just doesn't seem right. *sigh... _______________________________________________________ I still miss my fifth grader more than words can say. (She is still up in the Mountains all week long at her school's Out Door Science School.) Obviously it appears that she's having a blast - which is the best birthday present I could want. Life is so quiet. I just wish just wish it weren't this quiet. How long is it till I can pick up my youngest child from school?
