I had a feeling Randy Newman would call us out for our human foibles during this 2012 presidential race, however did not expect to hear quite such a note of despair to his voice. At first Newman's ballad appears to be nothing more than a sweet, humorous lament. However as the melody unfurls we hear the deceptively simple harmonies limp awkwardly toward it's real message: We are forever bound in ugliness to a sinking ship of racism: And he makes this point not just musically, but by stringing together lyrics as funny as salt in a wound; Within a tune all but refusing to hummed. This is no amusing ditty; this is our historic demise. We do seem to be a nation of folks unable to heed either common sense or God's warning wrath. And I, too, am heartbroken by what I fear is our endless, tragic ignorance. When will we ever learn?

Did I even question this? Right now with Sarah Palin declaring "open season" on Democrats? (Yeah. She did this. And put a gun sights on the addresses of all Democrats she wants gone.) No.....no, no, no. I may not like all the name calling and deal-making that goes on inside both parties in Washington, but after the past week's angry, tantrum throwing, hate-fest by the Republican Party -- well, it just proved to me that there is NO way that am I not anywhere but firmly on the left . My own "imaginary friend," Bill Maher, says it best with his latest "New Rules" from Real Time:

Anyone curious about what that "bomb Iran" song was that Obama reminded McCain about having sung "for a joke?" First I found a youtube clip of his thoughtless rambling at length and below is a MoveOn.Org reaction to his revealing gaff. Below that is the MoveOn.Org reaction to it. But, here's what's so disgusting and revealing about who this angry, arrogant, petulant jerk really is: You have to then view this last clip where he not only defends his irresponsible "song-joke" but slams the idea that anyone should think it out of place.
