Cher and Kathy Griffin Firing Up Women To Take the Vote On Election Day

Image
Hm. So, yesterday's Randy Newman video didn't inspire you find out who else you can take with you to the polls this Tuesday? Well, how about Cher?! Is she able to get you up and moving? Or Kathy? Cause, hey GFs, they want you to wake up and get the vote out. “This is Cher, bitches. Do what she says … and God bless America,” says Kathy Griffin: Our "other" fabulous female icon in their web ad firing up the bases to GET out the vote for women's rights and -- hey, how about all American's rights, this Tuesday. Don't Let Mitt Turn Back Time On Women Check it out and "just say no" to the war on women. No, wait, that was Nancy Reagan. Well, I bet she's disgusted with this, too.

Kathy Griffin is bringing her holiday show to town!

What?!   OMG!  How did I not know my favorite female comic was coming to town?  I have got to get a ticket to see her! So, how come this vanilla, married mother of two adores the outspoken, wicked Kathy Griffin so much?     Because Kathy's brave and funny and not afraid of taking on the school yard bully, that's why.  In this case, the school yard bully happens to be the shameful legislation known as "Prop 8."   In case you missed it before, I had the honor of guest blogging for The Bilerico Report regarding a particular  episode of Kathy Griffin's show  "My Life On The D-List" which aired, July 27th, on Bravo, (Episode 8, Season 5) when she took on a more serious tone than usual.   That particular show started off with a declaration of war on the California Supreme Court's decision on the constitutionality of Prop 8 and followed her as she marched to Sacramento on the eve of California Supreme Court's decision on this.

Tonight on "Life on the D List" -- Meet "Norma Gay!"

I was asked to do a guest blog post on the very cool LGBTQ website The Bilerico Experiment , about Kathy Griffin, in her endless quest to become an A-lister ending up becoming an activist – which is clearly an entirely different A-list – fighting alongside her many gay fans against California Proposition 8. And, so I'm hoping you visit me on Bilerico to read all about how much I love Kathy Griffin and how amazing I think it is that she's gotten behind (so to speak) our battle to repeal Prop 8 along side so many others who know Prop 8 is both antiquated and unconstitutional which should be repealed, "like, yesterday ." -- As my twelve-year-old would put it. Check out my post, "Kathy Griffin: Comedian and Activist" here. Given that you’re reading this on a site billed as "Louise on the Left," I’m guessing you’re well-versed in the history of California as a gay battleground state, but gays and lesbians aren’t the only Californians pissed off abou

Kathy Griffin: Comedian and Activist

Or, as Melissa Etheridge dubs her, "Norma Gay!" That's right, comedian Kathy Griffin, in her endless quest to become an A-lister ended up becoming an activist – an entirely different A-list – fighting alongside her many gay fans against California Proposition 8. Having been a longtime Kathy Griffin fan , learning about her new leaf as a political activist really made me sit up and take notice. Given that you’re reading this on Bilerico, I’m guessing you’re well-versed in the history of California as a gay battleground state, but gays and lesbians aren’t the only Californians pissed off about this. Many of us straight people are – I’ve been writing about this for months – and now Kathy Griffin is in the fight too. In this episode (Episode 8, Season 5) of her show “My Life On The D-List” which airs this Monday, July 27th, on Bravo , Griffin takes on a more serious tone than usual, starting off with a declaration of war, more or less, on the eve of the California Supreme Cou

Summer TV doldrums nuked by Kathy Griffin & Life on the D List

I'm not proud. I'll admit it. One of the worst things about summer is that there is nothing on TV, anymore. I mean, it was bad enough when we started all that "Staycation!" B.S., but now, apparently we're still on that same tired "Staycation" and it's obvious that it's gonna be a long one. So, where the hell is the good stuff on TV? Oh, wait a minute, the shows are on "hiatus," too? No way. You gotta be kidding. Great. Thank you. So, this means, that even though there's no homework right now, or any of the usual distractions (including employment, for many.) to stand in the way of our love affair with the tube, suddenly there's also no more "quality" TV to watch? No Breaking Bad ? No Survivor ? Wife Swap ? No more Mad Men ? Californication ?! - No more...(gulp.) I can't believe I'm going to say this, but...no more of that that "other" show? You know, the one I said was wretched? (" I

Never claimed to be high brow, but...I love Kathy Griffin

These moments I luckily witnessed live on New Year's Eve, watching CNN really did make my New Years Eve so much more fun. Watch how Kathy and Anderson react to this one: I was doing live commentary on my facebook while watching Kathy and Anderson, and while these are officially the more "rude" moments of from the show, there were plenty of G rated moments equally as hilarious. I love that woman. However, my all time fav "Kathy Griffin moment" of the night was when she heckled back at the guys...When I saw her say this, I could not believe she was still actually ON camera? Oh, my God. Priceless. I know I wasn't drinking. That much. New Orleans moments... More Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper New Year's Eve fun.

Ricky Gervais rocked my world (well, briefly) at the Kodak Theatre, this weekend!

Here's the deal: When you marry a journalist, you may not get to drive a fancy car, but if you're lucky you may occasionally get tickets to fun things. This has been a good year for this. For instance, this weekend we both got to see Ricky Gervais in his Out Of England Tour . Better yet, it was at the Kodak theater , so I got to experience not just one hilarious show, but also see it at the famous Kodak Theatre where they also have the Oscars! Very exciting stuff, for me. For the record it was a terrific show. Ricky Gervais did not disappoint. He was engaging and funny throughout the show. The time just flew by and we both loved every minute. I was especially impressed how so often he remained the "straight man" (and I don't mean "not gay") during what was essentially one long monologue. That's not easy. But, he pulled it off with ease. For instance, he has a very funny bit about "going commando." The whole thing is mostly his re
