"I wanna be your lover" Official Video: Prince Nation Too Sad To Fuck Even Though It’s What Prince Would Have Wanted NEWS IN BRIEF A pril 21, 2016 VOL 52 ISSUE 15 News · Death · Celebrities CHANHASSEN, MN—After hearing the shocking news of the iconic pop star’s unexpected death, the U.S. populace reported Thursday that it was simply too sad to fuck, even though they knew it was what Prince would have wanted. “If Prince is looking down on us right now, I know he’d want to see us all get down and fuck, but I’m still just so upset that he’s gone that I don’t think I could get in the mood,” said 37-year-old Arizona resident Carol Parnum, echoing the sentiment of tens of millions of Americans across the country, who acknowledged that, despite recognizing that nothing would have brought more joy to the seven-time Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist than everyone getting freaky and fucking all night long, their emotions were still much too raw to do so. “Look, I unders

Steve Lambert: He's Everything You Want Right Now

Meet Steve. He's a visual artist I have been a fan of for some time now. Lots of people have posted his images, but I'm not sure they've always identified who actually created them, which rather irks me. We all deserve recognition for the cool stuff we do -- especially if our work's good enough to be poached for Facebook and Tumblr accounts. So, here's a few pieces by visual artist, Steve Lambert, whose work I randomly adore. (Lambert   has his own website, here.   It's good.  Go there.) After first discovering his images via Tumblr a few years back I quickly became one of his most ardent fans. The blue version, I guess.   Earlier video of one of his 2009 shows in LA. Here's a link to a good article about Lambert from Laweekly a few years ago  If you don't have time to read all that -- this part is pr

Surprisingly Great Christmas film: Bell, Book and Candle.

Image
I have to say, Bell, Book and Candle remains one of my personal holiday must sees. I think I've posted about this before, but it bears repeating given that right now it's the holidays and most theaters are filled with the usual, as I see it, over-priced fare which are about as meaningful as a drive-thru fast food meal. Bell, Book and Candle remains just as magical and timelessly charming today as it was the year it opened. True, Jimmy Stewart is about 15 years past his prime for being cast as Novak's love interest, but he's still just as adorable as always in his graying sort-of way. However, Kim Novak casts an eternal spell on us all when she graces the screen as a witch who has fallen in love with a mere mortal while hailing from her own wacky witchy family with it's wacky witch rules. (Something we can all relate to. The witch part, I mean.) Add to this story the combined comedic talents of Jack Lemmon, Ernie Kovacs, Hermione Gingold, Elsa Lanche

Kitten Versus "A Very Scary Thing"

Gee, I was thinking about hiring an orchestra for my next Youtube video, too. -- Seems worth it in this case, no?

This kid obviously has never heard Bowie's Laughing Gnome

This kid loves Bowie. No, this kid really, really, really loves David Bowie... Hey, Mom! -- Guess what?  You, too,  can cure this child of her obsession with just one listen of Bowie's "The Laughing Gnome." Even Bowie can't handle it. David Bowie 'Requiem For A Laughing Gnome' 1999

Bruno in the burbs of OC

Image
So, last night I could stand the suspense no more and went to "Bruno." Why, some may ask, would a married mother of two want to see a movie about a crazy gay guy? Well, because actually I just wanted to see a funny movie, that's why. And I did. And it was. True, there were some stunned silences, and one or two couples, like the one to my left, who up and left after the first penis-spinning and talking bit. Let it be said, this movie is not for the faint of heart. Or for those who lack, well, I can't call it maturity, because that's not what I mean. I guess what I mean is it's not for those who lack "perspective," for lack of a better word. When purchasing a ticket to this film one needs to realize two important things: One: "Bruno" no more speaks for all gay men, than Tyler Perry's "Medea" speaks for all African-American women. And, Two: It ain't for the kids. Seriously, there were kids there, last night.

"The Invention of Lying" A potentially very funny Ricki Gervais movie "on vacation" till Sept. 25

September 25th? As in fall September 25th??? So, wait -- hold on. It's summer. Right now. And there's a Ricki Gervais movie available, but just, not yet ? Oh, come on! Yeah, okay, so here's another one of my favorite funny people doing a movie which looks quite entertaining, but is APPARENTLY ON VACATION TILL SEPTEMBER 25TH. -- It looks good, doesn't it? *Sigh* ------------------------------------------------------ Here's what it said on the website about it. " The Invention of Lying " is set in a contemporary world where no one has ever lied. Gervais will play a performer who tells the first lie and harnesses its power for personal gain. Tyra tells America's Next Top Model her face is "wha-wha."

Okay, so I never started out as an America's Next Top Model fan, yet somehow we started watching it and now, well, I enjoy it because it's so campy and bizarre. I dislike the message it sends women, however I've become mesmerized by the spectacle of it all. I do love the way Tyra runs her hen house. I'm amazed that a former super-model so effortless has become such a powerhouse. She's so dramatic and over-the-top. Very entertaining delivery. However, my favorite moment last week was when Tyra narrowed the final two to two models, Aminat and Celia . Then, Tyra shares this career observation with the runner up. "...Pretty girl! But, there's something about the mathematics of your face when it comes to how the light hits it in a photo that sometimes is genius and sometimes is wha-wha ." "Wha-wha??! Can you imagine having Tyra tell you this to your face? OMG! This so makes me laugh everytime. Here it is: America's Next Top Model
