Step away from The Blanche, please.
I'm a fan of Gillian Anderson, however watching this short film The Departure, staring and directed by Gillian Anderson, written by Andrew O'Hagan just makes me want to scream. Oh. I get it. I get that there are some roles we actresses covet and love so very much that we'll always be possessive about them. Blanche is my "Git your hand's offa my Blanche, woman!" role. I own it -- Blanche has been a role I've wanted to play almost as long as I can remember wanting to act. Most of my early goals have fallen to the wayside eons ago when life's more immediate needs took centerstage for me. But, Streetcar. And Blanche? She's the one part -- I've never given up on.
