Note to Higher Being: -- Hello? Anyone there? I think you left the heat on. It's "Fall," remember? That means, you know, "Back-to-school." Time for apples and knee socks and crisp new outfits, and not a collective cast call for Lawrence-of-Arabia, Pt. II. Come on. We've been buying pencils and composition books, so synch with the collective calendar, here, and knock off the "summer" act. We're over it. So, sorry, to complain, but surf is not up. It's September . And now for something completely different.

Baby, it's hot out there. It's relentlessly hot. It's the kind of hot that makes people snap, (more on that later) but, right now I'm exploring how others have creatively incorporated this kind of environmental phenomenon into their work. For instance, in the film "Body Heat," back in 1981, the heat was almost a third character in Matty's already crowded love-triangle. -- And so, to salute the our ability to creatively flip a hindrance into something else, something more interesting than just being cranky and sweaty, I'm posting the trailer to the film "Body Heat." By the way, I should mention that at the time, the film not only entirely lived up to trailer's hype; it transcended it. And then -- there are other films, certainly, which feature hot weather to the point that their story would be impossible to tell without heat being a part of it.
