Fast and Easy Progressive Democratic 2012 Voting Guide for Orange County, California
VOTER GUIDE FOR ELECTION DAY,
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2012
Tonight I was watching CNN and I realized I should post a fast and easy voter guide to take the polls on Tuesday.
IF THIS VOTER GUIDE SEEMS VERY BASIC, THAT WAS MY GOAL.
Elections are complicated. I chose to make this as clear and easy to understand as possible. I wish I could make it even easier.
These are my suggestions for voting if you care about keeping schools and public education strong, our nation safe sound, our people healthy and protect civil liberties. This is the best way to vote if, like me, you are a Progressive Democrat in Orange County, CA who cares about public safety and a strong eduction.
VOTER GUIDE FOR ELECTION DAY,
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2012
Yes: President Obama
Yes: Diane Feinstein
Congressmen/woman choices:
District 38: Yes: Linda Sanchez
District 39: Yes: Jay Chin
District 45: Yes: Sukhee Kang
District 46: Yes: Loretta Sanchez
District 47: Yes: Alan Lowenthal
District 48: Yes: Ron Varasteh
District 46: Yes: Loretta Sanchez
District 49 : Yes: Jerry Tetalman (NEVER Darrell Issa. No way.)
Prop choices for those who put education and public saftety at the top of their list. Along with not just cutting taxes for that top 2%.
PROP 30: Yes.
Good for schools: Raises 6 Billion a year for schools and public safety. GOOD.
PROP 31: No.
Makes California government even more complicated and messed up.
PROP 32: No.
It hurts unions and only helps big businesses.
PROP 33: No.
Increases higher rates for new auto insurance customers.
PROP 34: Yes.
Thou shalt not kill. Duh. Saves California funds by not adding costs related to murdering prisoners which is more costly than keeping them alive.
PROP 35: No.
Not really needed already laws on books for same issues.
PROP 36: Yes:
Fixes 3 strikes laws making it apply ONLY to the most dangerous dudes.
PROP 37: Yes:
Keeps food labeling honest. Keeps potentially dangerous food correctly labeled. (*A personal issue for me since I have a child with food allergy. I absolutely want food labels to state what is in our food. Don't believe the big-business BS: Voting for this prop will not cost us more money. And do you really want to eat GMO food created by same people who make Roundup and Agent Orange? Hint: You don't. You really don't.)
PROP 38: No.
Not as strong a choice for schools and eduction as first prop (30). Only one can win.
(*More thoughts -- I may actually vote YES for this as well. However, be warned if both props 30 & 38 win, only one gets to be law -- naturally it will be the prop with the most votes. LA Times warns that the other Prop (30) is the stronger one and that this Prop (38) is the weaker of the the two pro-school props.)
PROP 39: Yes.
Ends a bad tax loophole helping big companies going out of state for jobs.
PROP 40: Yes.
A fairer way to run state government which is more democratic.
(*Sorry for adding additional comments on a few prop issues. Somethings require a bit more insight)
These choices are sometimes based on the Los Angeles Times, occasionally Bill Maher, but mostly just own opinion as a loving parent who cares about strong education, protecting public safety and keeping our government fair and not just out to protect the filthy rich.
However, my advice is always to vote based on what matters to you.
This is how I'll vote based on what matters to me.
