Safety violation shuts down circus

I am not sure what happened, but Circus Aguilar never opened at Westminster Mall at all. It's sitting there, but it's been closed the entire time.

When I inquired what happened the mall spokesperson said that the circus never passed the safety violation code. They would not elaborate what kind of code violations were cited.

The really sad part of this story is knowing that all the animals are still being kept there inside a dark, small tent while the circus sits empty for days in the parking lot.

They've briefly been taken out to be bathed, but other than they haven't been seen much at all.

There's no grass for them to walk on, no field. Just a small tent erected on asphalt next to the freeway with little hoofs peeking out from the dark of the doorway every now and then.

Very depressing.

I wish I had happier news to report about any of this, but I don't. It's just sorry and sad this is precisely why I don't support using animals for entertainment, because they're the ones who suffer the most when the humans go and drop the ball.

The only promising thing here is that hopefully they'll get enough shows cancelled due to their poor planning that the entire circus folds.

We can only hope.

Last year when Circus Vargas appeared, I contacted someone who worked in management at Westminster Mall and said he believed there would not be animals present. It's unfortunate that this year they chose to allow a circus that does use animal acts to plan to appear there. I'm glad the circus didn't open. If the mall or any other local business again books a circus with animal acts in the future, I would be happy to go protest with you! I thought I was the only one who noticed or cared that Westminster Mall was hosting circuses that might have animal acts, am so glad to know I'm not the only one! Dear "Longtime Westminster Mall Customer - Animal Lover"

-- You are NOT alone! There really are cool people all over the place, if you just know where to find them!

Isn't nice to know that there are interesting, caring people everywhere?

Together we can do so much.

Nice to know we can plan something supportive for the animals in the future if needed!

Thanks for your comment!

A friend of animals, is a friend of mine.
