Flying my own freedom prayer flags high all year

Another positive change after reading  Bamboo Nation.

Hot Yoga.   Really.   And, it is.

Yesterday, Prince Gomolvilas's New Year's Resolution post finally inspired me to stop procrastinating and finally go to a "Core Power Yoga" class for the first time!

Look, I know that doesn't sound like much, to normal people, but I have some boring health issues, and the most limiting one of those is my knee problems.

Truthfully, my knees have often kept me from dealing with my physical life, but, lately I've committed to making a change for myself. I love writing, but movement is often an overlooked enterprise when one is lost over their keyboard. So, I wanted to change that tune for myself.

Somewhere between Prince's blog and being somewhere, amazing, like VT, I have decided not to let one bum knee keep my body from, well, "being under challenged."

So, I looked hard at what I loved about being back in a place like Brattleboro, Vt. (or Northamption, Ma.) and one the thing I really became aware of was that most residents there really are far more in touch with their spiritual/therapeutic side!
I mean, as an accepted way of life. Everywhere. -- I mean, not just in those holistic free weekly newspapers -- But everywhere you go. Main Street. Restaurants. Grocery Stores. Everywhere you go, there are reminders that appreciating the five senses is mandatory.  Okay,  six senses.

Seven.

There is so much good energy that part of the world.  And now back in Orange County, CA.  I find I miss it, profoundly.   (I want gloomy clouds and snow.)

Everywhere we went in Vermont,  were reminders about what's important, in life.  Tibetan prayer flags, Art Galleries.  Health spas.  Incense and "whole foods" and yoga classes. It's not just a vacation, but actually a way of life there!

Welll, here I am.  Now.  So, I just made this choice to bring THAT part home with me, at least. I can't bring all of it home, but I can make some of it a part of my daily practice.

That's something I really can take home from Vt.

So, I took that free week from Core Power Yoga in Huntington Beach, CA and took one of their "hot yoga classes." I LOVED it! The heat is daunting, but it helps "warm up" those joints very efficiently and it's clean and they play great music and they even have showers there! What's not to like? (Okay, the cost, but I'll figure something out.)

I will commit to sticking with a new ("healthy") love -- "hot yoga." I will not forget how it made my body feel all day afterwards. I felt centered and whole and alive. What's not to like about that?

So, here's to flying my Tibetan Prayer flag with pride. And here's to the inspiration of wonderful bloggers, like Prince at Bamboo Nation.

Here's Buddy getting in touch with his spiritual side, with me.

In any event, if you still  haven't Bamboo Nation's post, "How to beat wintertime blues?"
-- Well, take a moment, and do.

It's worth it.

My friend did hot yoga. It sounds brutally sweaty--but good! Like a sweat lodge in the suburbs!
Exactly! I almost never sweat, so for me doing so is cathartic.

However, if one is already prone to being drenched at the gym, well, they may have a problem concept -- it's really intense.
