Today the news just flattened most of us, especially those with children.

Not much to say other than the problem is beyond obvious.
My heart aches endlessly for those in headlines at this time.
The only panacea I can offer is a promise to make tomorrow safer.

Movie Review Update: "Black Swan" is a mother's worst nightmare.

(Note: At the time of publishing this my oldest kid was barely 13.) Are you a parent? Do you love your daughter?  Then do not ever take her to see this movie.  Ever. For the record, it may be the holidays.  True, they release ballet films during the holidays, but "Black Swan" is no "dance movie." Frankly, it's not even a very good thriller. It's a movie about Natalie Portman  pretending to dance while looking worried and scared and flapping her arms around while she picks at her skin and toenails until they bleed. And then she picks at her skin so much that you want to run screaming from the theater because it's so creepy and gross that you can barely sit there and take it any longer. Mysterious Skin: Amazing night of theater at East West Playersysi

Last night I made my way up and out of Orange County to go see Mysterious Skin, written by Prince Gomolvilas now enjoying it's Los Angeles premiere at East West Players. ***Note:  I am not a reviewer.  I am not a critic.  (I married one, which is why I can say with confidence, I am not this.  If you want real reviews of Mysterious Skin  you'll have to look to other publications wise enough to have send their press in to cover this show now running at East West Players.) Me? Currently, I am just an Orange County mom who loves theater almost as much as she loves writing.  (True, I used to act, but now I just "mom."  And I write.  But, again to clarify: Not a critic.)
