The day "Everything Changed." CBS news. Louise Larsen. Parents Of Kids With A Severe Peanut Allergy, and daughter, Juliet Larsen

Image
The year, 1998.    My daughter is one year's old.    I'm a first time mom of 37 with a bad case of laryngitis on the day of this segment. I was still reeling from having nearly lost my child to a danger I never realized existed until my child walked into the kitchen, pointed to her mouth, her eyes rolled back in her head, she fell to the floor and stopped breathing. This video is about the day (one of them) everything changed.

Teen spokesperson and professional model to address F.A.R.E. (Food Allergy conference) about pursuing her dreams by overcoming fears and staying positive

Great article by Christine Peddle in Allergic Living Magazine  which is always full of amazing information and entirely up-to-date info regarding auto-immune issues and allergies. And this edition has an article featuring someone very dear to my heart:  My eldest daughter, Juliet Larsen, who, in spite of life-threatening food allergies has found the courage to pursue a professional modeling career since the age of 14. NOTE: Juliet Larsen to address Teens at FARE Conference this Sunday, Long Beach, CA.  She will discuss how she felt growing up with this particular food allergy and how she did not let her fears of anaphylaxis stand in the way of following her dreams regarding participating in sports, theater events or even a professional modeling career.   **This Sunday, Long Beach, California at the 2015 annual  F.AR.E. Conference.

Four great songs from HBO's amazing mini-series, "The Jinx"

Image
The HBO mini series, The Jinx* is hands down, the best documentary on HBO, ever.  (Historic as well, just stay tuned to LA daily news 2015-16.) However, at the moment, I just cannot get that opening track, called Fresh Blood by Eels, out of my head.   What a perfect choice for the title sequence by the brilliant filmmakers, Andrew Jarecki, Marc Smerling and Zachary Stuart-Ponier.  Brilliant. Fresh blood is an eerie, weird, bizarrely sexy, insanely visceral and balls-to-the-wall menacing as hell song that means business. Four more great song/videos used in the HBO MINI SERIES, THE JINX.   (1) Opening Song/ opening credits " Fresh Blood " by Eels       Click here for viewing of   Title Sequence and opening credits  before they take it down. (2) "" You Ain't Lost " by  Band of Skulls  - (3) " Bones"  by  Kittie Harloe  -  (The Jinx Chapter 5 closing credits song) (4) " ...

Terrorist groups selling baby elephants to fund terrorism. Actions to save baby elephants from being stolen from elephant matriarchs.

I can't bear to watch Dumbo, I can't sit through Like Water For Elephants, but to tell you the truth: This one story just flattens me. Please join us to help keep baby elephants in the wild.  Removing them as infants and selling them to other countries to be raised in cement zoo is cruel and inhumane. Please join forces to stop stealing baby elephants from their mothers to sell to other countries like China and Thailand.  Besides the money raised in places like Zimbabwe is going to fund terrorist groups like the Boko Haram. NO MORE POACHING ELEPHANTS! African elephant poaching has reached crisis level with about 100 African elephants poached every day for their ivory. In the midst of this crisis, Zimbabwe is exporting dozens of baby elephants to China for $60,000 each, while claiming overpopulation as the motivation for export. Three out of four elephant calves exported from Zimbabwe to China in 2012 have since died, and the same fate most likely awaits thi...
