"Little Pig, little Pig, let me come in."

...And so the little pig decided to build a house of bricks
He knew the bricks would keep him safe from harm.

And this made the wolf so mad.
The wolf howled "Let me in , let me in!"
"Or I'll huff and I'll puff till I blow your house in!"
"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin" laughed the pig.

He laughed so hard that he started to cough.
Before long the little pig realized he couldn't let the wolf in at all.
The little pig couldn't let in the wolf
because was too sick to get out of bed.

The wolf repeated his demand,

"Little Pig, little pig, let me in!"
And the little pig thought to himself.
"I can't.  You're already here."

Finally, the wolf heard the little pig coughing
and the wolf tucked his tail between his legs,
and took off running just as fast as he could run.

-- The end.

Mr. Swine Flu.  H1N1.  It's here.

Yes, yesterday we had a visitor in our house.  Mr. Swine Flu paid our family a call.

He snuck into our stucco house at some point on Saturday afternoon.  That's when the throat started to bother my daughter and my husband.  By Sunday afternoon they were practically in tears. Breathing labored.  Fever.  And a very bad cough.

Yep, Mr. H1N1 paid us a visit and now Juliet, my 12 year old and her father are both sick as dogs pigs.

It started as a scratchy throat, then a slight cold.  Great fatigue, they've hit the bed and seem to be just drained of all energy.  A fever (not too high) and a very sticky, deep, ugly cough.  It's that chest cough that is so scary.  It's like cement in there.  It all got there so fast.  I sent them to the walk in clinic at 8 PM last night so that they could both get a prescription for Tamiflu.  But, it still got them good.

It's been 2 days since they came down with this and so far my 8 year old and I are untouched by anything and we both feel as fine as you can when you are worried about others.

I feel guilty as I was one of the lucky ones who stood in line for 4 hours on Saturday at a free clinic and actually got a swine flu vaccine.  I take medication to keep a very boring autoimmune disorder I have from attacking me, so I qualified for getting the shot.  I'm one of the lucky ones.

But, I think the Tamiflu has helped them both a great deal.  I highly recommend people getting some anti-viral meds as soon as they think they have something.

However, the reality is that, 50% of our household is really sick right now.

(News update: This was posted Monday.  By Wed.  We were 75% sick with this flu.  Today is Thursday and I am ignoring my sore throat....)

The little pig clearly built a house that could keep everything out, but germs.

Well, I should go check on them, but I will let you know how it all goes here at La Casa de Swine Flu.

But, I'm a little bit worried about them, to tell you the truth.

Oh, and, in case anyone is still dithering about whether or not to get the Swine Flu vaccine?

GET IT.
